From Cramped Corner Tub to Spa-Like Master Bath in Magnolia

When our client in Magnolia, Texas first contacted EZ Bath, their master bathroom was trapped in the past. A cramped corner with an aging corner jetted tub dominated the space, paired with a small, enclosed shower area featuring dated wood-grain tile work. The layout felt claustrophobic, and the finishes—worn beige tile, outdated fixtures, and cramped cabinetry—made the room feel more like a chore to use than a sanctuary. Our client dreamed of a modern, open master bath with a luxurious freestanding soaking tub and a spacious walk-in shower that would become their personal retreat. They wanted clean lines, contemporary finishes, and a layout that would make the space feel larger and more inviting.

The Transformation

The demolition phase was extensive. We completely removed the corner jetted tub, the dated shower enclosure with its textured tile, and all the worn flooring. Structural work included relocating plumbing lines to accommodate the new freestanding tub placement in the center of the room—a key design choice that would become the focal point of the renovated space. We removed the old vanity and cabinetry to reconfigure the bathroom layout, opening up the floor plan considerably. The walls were prepped for new tile installation, and we addressed all necessary framing and waterproofing to support the modern finishes our client wanted.

Once demolition was complete, our team installed new plumbing throughout, positioned the elegant freestanding soaking tub, and built out the spacious walk-in shower. The shower was framed with precision to accommodate large-format marble tiles and a generous layout that includes a handheld showerhead and fixed rainfall head.

The Finished Result

The completed bathroom is a study in modern luxury and clean design. The freestanding white soaking tub now takes center stage, positioned beautifully in the room and creating an inviting focal point. The walk-in shower features a sophisticated design with large white and gray marble subway tile that creates visual continuity and a contemporary aesthetic. The shower surround is framed in matte black metal accents, adding a modern industrial touch that balances the softness of the marble.

The flooring transitions seamlessly throughout the space with warm gray wood-look tile that provides comfort underfoot and easy maintenance. A new dark vanity with marble countertop sits along one wall, paired with updated fixtures and improved lighting. Shiplap wainscoting on one wall adds texture and farmhouse-modern charm without overwhelming the space. The overall color palette—whites, soft grays, and black accents—creates a spa-like atmosphere that feels both contemporary and timeless. Generous window placement brings in natural light, and new recessed lighting ensures the space is well-lit and functional.

This transformation took a cramped, dated bathroom and reimagined it as a serene, modern master bath. The open layout, premium finishes, and luxurious fixtures have created the sanctuary our client envisioned—a space that adds significant value and enjoyment to their Magnolia home.
