Master Bath Makeover: From Builder-Grade to Modern Luxury in Houston

When our clients first contacted EZ Bath, their primary bathroom was showing its age. The space featured an outdated builder-grade vanity setup, standard lighting, and an older bathtub/shower combination that felt cramped and uninspiring. The homeowners envisioned a complete transformation—a modern, spa-like retreat that would serve as a peaceful escape from the Texas heat. They wanted updated fixtures, improved lighting, a spacious walk-in shower with glass enclosure, and a contemporary vanity that would maximize storage and style. EZ Bath was the perfect choice to bring their vision to life.

The Transformation

Our team began with comprehensive demolition, carefully removing the existing vanity, lighting fixtures, and the old bathtub/shower unit. The plumbing rough-in required strategic repositioning to accommodate the new walk-in shower layout and updated fixture placement. We removed dated wall treatments and prepared the space for new drywall, ensuring proper waterproofing in the shower area. The floor required complete removal of the old tile and subflooring preparation to accommodate the new luxury vinyl plank flooring that mimics the look of natural wood grain.

Once the space was down to studs, we installed new plumbing lines and electrical work to support modern lighting and fixtures. The shower enclosure framing was carefully constructed to specifications, with proper slope and drainage considerations. We installed cement board in the shower surround and applied waterproofing membranes before tiling. The vanity rough-in was positioned for optimal workflow, with plumbing and electrical rough-in completing the infrastructure phase.

The Finished Result

The completed bathroom is nothing short of stunning. The centerpiece is a spacious walk-in shower featuring a sleek black-framed glass enclosure door that provides a modern, minimalist aesthetic. The shower surround showcases horizontal stripe tile patterns in neutral tones, creating visual interest without overwhelming the space. The flooring throughout features gray wood-look luxury vinyl plank that extends seamlessly from the bathroom into the adjacent hallway, creating flow and continuity.

The new vanity is a statement piece—a substantial dark gray cabinet base with white quartz countertop and an elegant black metal faucet. A large framed mirror with dark metal trim sits above, flanked by contemporary LED sconces that provide bright, flattering lighting. The white shaker-style cabinet offers multiple drawers and storage solutions, eliminating the clutter issues of the previous setup. Crisp white trim throughout, including crown molding and door casings, provides clean lines and a fresh, contemporary feel that brightens the entire space.

This complete master bath remodel transformed an outdated, cramped bathroom into a luxurious modern sanctuary. The homeowners now enjoy a spa-quality shower experience, abundant storage, and designer finishes that will serve them beautifully for years to come.
