From Basic Bathtub to Luxe Walk-In Shower in Magnolia

Our client in Magnolia was ready for a bathroom upgrade. The existing space featured a standard bathtub with a basic shower setup, dated tile work, and a layout that didn't maximize the room's potential. The homeowner envisioned a modern, spa-like retreat with a spacious walk-in shower, elegant tilework, and improved functionality. They wanted a bathroom that felt contemporary and luxurious—a dramatic departure from the tired, functional space they had been living with.

The Transformation

The project began with a complete demolition of the existing shower and bathtub area. Our team carefully removed the old fixtures, plumbing connections, and surrounding walls to make room for the new walk-in shower enclosure. This required rerouting plumbing lines and reinforcing the structural framework to support the new glass shower enclosure and tile installation. The demolition also revealed the ceiling, which we addressed with moisture-resistant materials appropriate for a wet bathroom environment. Once the structural work was complete, we began the meticulous process of installing the new shower base, framing the glass partition walls, and preparing surfaces for tiling.

The tiling phase was extensive and detail-oriented. We installed large-format marble tiles in a herringbone pattern throughout the shower walls, creating visual interest and a high-end aesthetic. A darker mosaic tile was strategically placed in the lower portion of the shower for contrast and to define the space. The shower features built-in shelving and niches for storage, integrated seamlessly into the tilework. A black accent trim adds modern sophistication, while the frameless glass enclosure keeps the space feeling open and bright.

The Finished Result

The completed bathroom is a stunning transformation. The walk-in shower dominates the space with its elegant marble herringbone tile, dark mosaic accents, and frameless glass doors. Multiple showerheads and a handheld sprayer offer luxury and flexibility. Built-in shelving displays shower products beautifully while maintaining an organized appearance. The new fixtures are sleek and contemporary, complementing the sophisticated tile design. The bathroom layout now flows better, with the toilet positioned to the side and the sink area maintaining good spacing.

The adjacent bathtub area (visible in later project photos) features white subway tile with burgundy and brown accent tile work, creating a complementary but distinct aesthetic. The flooring throughout remains a classic light tile, providing a neutral base that balances the dramatic shower design.
