Complete Bathroom Renovation in Hempstead: From Pink Tile to Modern Custom Design
When our team at EZ Bath first visited this Hempstead home, we found a bathroom that was frozen in time. The existing space featured dated pink and white checkerboard tile on the walls, an aging bathtub with a standard shower setup, and a cramped layout that didn't meet the homeowner's needs. The client envisioned a complete transformation—a modern, functional bathroom with quality finishes and smart storage solutions that would maximize the narrow footprint of this older home.
The Transformation
Our demolition and construction process began by completely gutting the existing bathroom. We removed the old pink tiled walls, the dated bathtub and shower surround, and outdated fixtures. Once we cleared the space down to the studs, we addressed the plumbing and electrical infrastructure, repositioning outlets and running new water lines to accommodate the updated layout. The narrow corridor-style bathroom required careful planning to create zones for the toilet, sink, and shower while maintaining adequate clearance for daily use.
We installed new drywall and prepared the space for the custom finishes our client desired. One of the key features we added was a strategic shelving system—wooden shelves with black metal brackets mounted on the wood-paneled wall created open storage perfect for towels and bathroom essentials. We also reconfigured the layout to position a new, larger vanity with ample counter space and storage below, making the bathroom far more functional than before.
The Finished Result
The completed bathroom is a stunning blend of rustic and contemporary design. We installed tongue-and-groove wood paneling throughout the space in two tones—lighter natural cedar on most walls and darker, richly stained wood on an accent wall. The rich wood tones create warmth and character while the varied stain colors add visual interest and dimension to the narrow space.
The new vanity features a dark wood base with a modern sink and faucet, paired with ample counter space for toiletries. The three-tier wooden shelving system with black hardware provides stylish, accessible storage without the closed-off feeling of traditional cabinets. The new shower-tub combination features clean white subway-style tiling and modern fixtures, a dramatic upgrade from the dated original setup. Flooring throughout is a durable, dark-toned material that complements the wood paneling and adds visual weight to anchor the design. Strategic lighting, including a modern ceiling fixture, brightens the entire space and highlights the wood details.
This complete bathroom renovation transformed a cramped, outdated space into a beautiful, functional room that the homeowner can enjoy for years to come. The combination of natural wood, smart storage, and quality fixtures has created a bathroom that feels both spacious and inviting—proof that thoughtful design and quality craftsmanship can completely revitalize even the most challenging bathroom spaces.
