From Cramped Builder-Grade Bath to Spa-Like Retreat in Montgomery

When our client first contacted EZ Bath, their master bathroom was a classic example of builder-grade construction that had seen better days. The space featured an older bathtub/shower combo with basic tile surround, cramped layout, and outdated fixtures. The homeowner envisioned a complete transformation—a modern, functional bathroom with updated finishes and a more spa-like atmosphere. They wanted to maximize the limited square footage while creating a space that felt fresh, clean, and inviting. After our initial consultation and detailed planning, we knew exactly how to deliver on that vision.

The Transformation

Our team began with a complete demolition of the existing bathroom. We removed the old bathtub, surround, and all associated plumbing fixtures. The inspection revealed the framing needed reinforcement in several areas, which we addressed immediately to ensure proper support for the new installation. We rerouted plumbing lines to accommodate the new layout and upgraded the electrical work to meet current building codes. The drywall in the shower enclosure was replaced with moisture-resistant cement board to provide a solid, long-lasting foundation. Our project photos document this careful demolition and preparation work, showing the structural framework and detailed plumbing installation that happens behind the scenes.

Once the rough-in work was complete, we installed a new alcove bathtub with a modern white finish. The shower surround features a custom tile installation in warm earth tones—a neutral palette that creates a sophisticated, spa-like atmosphere. We installed new plumbing fixtures with modern black hardware that complements the tile work beautifully. The entire wet area was sealed and waterproofed to prevent future moisture issues.

The Finished Result

The completed bathroom is a stunning transformation. The new bathtub is positioned perfectly within the alcove, creating a focal point that's both functional and beautiful. The shower surround features rectangular tile in warm tan and brown tones, installed in a clean grid pattern that emphasizes the room's vertical lines and makes the space feel larger. Modern black showerhead and fixtures add contemporary style without overwhelming the neutral palette. A transom window above the tub allows natural light to flood the space while maintaining privacy—a thoughtful design detail that enhances the bathroom's openness and connection to the outdoors.

The flooring throughout the bathroom features coordinating tile that ties the wet and dry areas together seamlessly. The vanity area remains crisp and clean, with excellent lighting and storage. Every detail has been carefully planned and executed, from the precise tile layout to the properly sealed and waterproofed surfaces.

This remodel transformed a dated, builder-grade bathroom into a modern retreat that our client can enjoy every day. The improved layout, updated fixtures, and thoughtful design have made the space more functional and significantly more beautiful. The homeowner now has the spa-like bathroom they envisioned—a peaceful sanctuary right in the heart of their Montgomery home.
