Let me start by saying this isn’t one of those “AI is taking over!” kind of blogs. We’re not there. Yet. But we are seeing it start to seep into just about every corner of life, and yeah, that includes bathroom remodeling.

We had a chat about this on the podcast recently—kind of a roundtable moment with me, Cliff, Ben, and Zack. Each of us had a slightly different take, but here’s the gist:

AI can be super helpful. It can also be a little… sketchy.

Let’s dig in.

💡 The Good Stuff: How AI Is Actually Helping Us

So, first off, I’m not anti-AI. In fact, I use it. A lot. It helps me multitask and knock out stuff that would normally take hours. Like writing blog posts like this, as long as I plug in the right info. If you’re feeding AI garbage, you’re gonna get garbage out. But if you’re giving it solid direction, it can really boost productivity.

For businesses like ours, it can help with things like:

  • Organizing design notes
  • Drafting proposals
  • Scheduling
  • Even putting together client education content

It can speed things up. And when used right, it can actually improve the experience for homeowners. We can respond faster, stay more organized, and explain things better.

🤔 The Not-So-Great Side: Misinformation & Fake Portfolios

Now, here’s the scary part. AI can just as easily create some straight-up nonsense. And that matters a lot in our line of work.

One big thing we talked about: fake bathrooms. Some companies are using AI to generate images that look like real projects, but they’re totally fabricated. You think you’re seeing a beautifully remodeled shower in Katy or The Woodlands, but nope. It’s a made-up space, designed by a robot.

That kind of thing hurts real homeowners. Because it sets false expectations. It makes it harder to tell who actually knows what they’re doing.

We even talked about how easy it is now to crank out blog posts, social media, “expert” advice—all with no real-world experience behind it. If you’re not careful, you could end up trusting someone who hasn’t touched a hammer in years.

⚖️ Why This Hits Home for Houston Homeowners

Here’s where it gets personal. Your bathroom is part of your home. And your home is probably your biggest investment.

When AI is used responsibly, it can help you make informed choices. But when it’s used to deceive, it can cost you. Big time.

  • Imagine hiring someone based on an AI-generated portfolio
  • Or following “tips” that don’t actually apply to Houston homes
  • Or trusting a contractor who lets ChatGPT do all the talking

We’ve seen it firsthand. Sketchy photos. Bad advice. Misleading marketing.

AI isn’t going away. So it’s up to us (and you) to be smart about how we use it.

🔧 Key Takeaways

  • AI can help with multitasking and communication when it’s based on real, solid info
  • It can also be used to fake projects, spread bad info, and mislead homeowners
  • Trust what you can verify: real projects, real reviews, real people
  • If it feels off, ask questions. Real pros won’t hide behind bots

🧵 From the Podcast: Real Stories, Real Talk

This topic came up during an episode of the EZ Bath Podcast. Cliff was observing the whole AI thing with curiosity. Ben brought up how important it is to double-check what you’re feeding into AI tools. Zack (as our resident tech wizard) dropped some wild facts about how AI can run job searches and write listings automatically. Pretty crazy stuff.

And me? I’m cautiously optimistic. I think AI can help a lot—as long as we stay human first.

😊 Curious but Cautious? Let’s Talk.

If you’ve got questions about remodeling in Houston, or you just want to know if a bathroom photo is the real deal, give us a shout. We’ll always tell you the truth, even if it’s not what you want to hear.

❓ FAQ

Q: Can AI help me plan my remodel?

A: It can help you get ideas and organize your thoughts, but you still need real humans to walk the space and make it work in real life.

Q: How can I tell if a bathroom photo is fake?

A: Look for red flags like odd shadows, missing reflections, or “too perfect” details. And don’t be afraid to ask where the photo was taken.

Q: Should I avoid companies using AI?

A: Not necessarily. Just make sure they’re using it as a tool, not a crutch. The best remodelers use tech to help their team, not replace it.
